Phantom Gear is an action-adventure platforming side-scroller developed primarily for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and modern platforms. It draws inspiration from games such as Mega Man X4, Mega Man Zero, Gunstar Heroes, Monster World IV, Sonic, and others.

The game puts players in the role of Josephine, a fearless young woman equipped with the Phantom Gear, an advanced piece of technology developed by Agnis, her mother, using an ancient artifact they discovered years ago during an expedition in a ancient ruins. This equipment will allows her to fight against Ocular Force, a paramilitary faction that destroys everything in its path and self-claims absolute ownership of the artifact.

During one of the many attacks against them, Ocular Force manages to seize the artifact and take Dr. Valentine hostage, the co-creator of the Phantom Gear and Agnis's best friend. Josephine must set out to rescue Valentine, recover the artifact, and defeat Ocular Force once and for all.

With Phantom Gear, we aim to apply modern game development and game design methodologies using technology that is more than 30 years old, embracing all the technical limitations that come with it while preserving the authentic retro essence of the console.

Featuring a high level of visual and audio quality, the game is optimized to maximize every byte of the console's memory. It includes full-screen animated cutscenes, detailed backgrounds, fluid animations, and color palette versatility pushed to the limits of the hardware—all packed into a complete game of just 3–4 MB.

Our goal is to release Phantom Gear both as a physical cartridge, complete with box and manual for the Sega Genesis, and digitally on modern platforms such as Steam and the Nintendo eShop, always targeting the retro gaming audience of which we are part.
