Gauchesca is a video game inspired by Argentine mythology and the traditional card game Truco.
It is a visual novel whose core gameplay loop revolves around card matches. The story takes place during a Truco tournament organized by San La Muerte, where the protagonist, Martina Chapanay, must face iconic figures from Argentine folklore such as Martín Fierro, Difunta Correa, Pomberito, and many others.
The main focus of the game is its narrative, which is deeply integrated with the gameplay. During each match, players must talk to manipulate their opponents, making it possible to win even when the cards are not in their favor. At the same time, opponents can also try to deceive and manipulate the player, making psychological strategy just as important as the cards themselves.
